Are you looking for a way to break the ice, especially with a perspective client? Well a clever magic trick is a great way to grab someones attention. A pocket magic trick doesn’t have to be a long elaborate card routine but it can be quick, simple and easy to perform. As a matter of fact, short and sweet can be a great especially if your are trying to grab the attention of a restaurant owner so you can present your sales pitch. We are going to share some pocket magic ideas that are fun and pretty simple to pull off.
The inflated Quarter: This routine requires a Jumbo Quarter and a normal size Washington head quarter.
We carry a few different jumbo coins, for this routine I chose a jumbo Quarter, any jumbo coin and corresponding normal size coin will do.
Step 1. Hide your jumbo coin in a convenient place where you can easily retrieve it, a rear pocket on your pants is a good place.
Step 2. Borrow a quarter from a spectator (needs to have Washington’s face) and mention how money just doesn’t seem to go as far as it used to.
Step 3. Hold coin on the outstretched fingers. You say: “But what if we could make our money increase to match inflation?”

Step 4. While their attention is on the small coin, sneak the jumbo coin out of your pocket with the other hand and hold it palm to the floor.
“The Move”
Step 5 a. The hand with the normal size coin will be turning palm to floor, as the hand rotates just place your thumb on the coin so it doesn’t fall.
Step 5 a.
Step 5 b. The hand concealing the jumbo coin rotates palm up to meet the other hand, almost as if you were clapping your hands. This gives the appearance of tossing the normal size coin to the opposite hand and it magically grows in size.
Step 5 b.
This is not difficult but practice this transition so it is smooth when you perform the trick.
Step 6. Feel free to hand out the jumbo coin so spectators can feel that it is solid.
“Returning the coin.”
Don’t forget you borrowed a quarter to start the routine, so you need to give it back. You say: “This might be a little hard for you to spend so let me fix that.”
Step 7. With the hand holding the normal size coin retrieve the jumbo coin from the spectator and ask them to hold their hand out palm up. Give the jumbo coin a little squeeze and let the normal size coin drop into their hand.
Step 7.
Step 8. Simply place the jumbo coin back into your pocket and say “I know a bank who will let me deposit this.”
The Traffic light is one of my favorite pocket magic tricks and it is super easy to do.
Step 1. Show the spectator both sides of the two plastic cards, one has colored dots like a traffic light the other is blank. *Make sure you have the cards in the plastic sleeves at this point as they hide the secret.

Step 2. Ask the spectator to hold their hands out palms up. Now turn the card with dots face down, slide it our of the clear sleeve and place it face down on the spectators hand. Repeat this maneuver with the other card placing it on their other hand. Place the clear sleeves in your pocket.
Step 2.
Step 3. Tell them this is a test to see how well they obey the traffic laws and you will ask a few simple questions.
Step 3.
Question one: “What do you do at a red light?” STOP
Question two: “What do you do at a yellow light?” SLOW DOWN. I usually add, drive really fast.
Question three: “What do you do at a green light?” GO
Tell them when they said GO something magical happened.
Step 4. Turn over the first card revealing the green dot is missing. Turn over the second card to show the green dot is now there. *The spectators can even touch the cards to see that the dots do not move or come off.
Step 4.
How do you do it? Well I hate to be a tease but this trick is so slick and it’s just a couple of bucks I guess you’ll have to buy one to find out. Besides I already gave you an awesome routine for free.
Remember when doing magic to have fun with the spectator not make fun of them and you will be well received.
