When You Forget Stuff For Your Clown Gigs

It is going to happen sooner or later, or maybe it has already happened to you one or more times. The feeling you get at first is really uncomfortable until you find a way to work around the issue. I am talking about of when you forget something important and necessary for your clown event.

It has happened to me a few times and I always have the same reactions. First, I panic. Then, If I am close to my home I try to calculate if I have time to go back and get what I left. If I cannot do that, then I will try to find a workaround. And lastly, If I can not find a workaround, then I will apologize and do my service as best as I can. In this last case, I will always offer a free service for another event just to compensate for my mistake and this has worked miracles, leaving the people who hired me feeling better.

I have forgotten almost everything in different occasions. One time I forgot my wig. Another time, I forgot my shoes. The list goes on and on, like the time I forgot my computer with all my songs, the different times I forgot my microphone, the time I forgot my sound equipment, sculpting balloons, face painting equipment, my gloves, my hat, wires, and everything else I forgot to remember right now.

This was not all at the same time, it has happened during my 11 years of clowning around.

I decided to fix this by doing a checklist. Now before I leave for an event, I take out my handy checklist the night before, and check the items one by one. Then I make sure they are ready to take out by putting everything next to the door. This way I make sure everything is setup to go the next day. Then the day of the event, I do another round of checking everything again against the checklist. After this, I am ready to get rolling and make people happy and have a great time.
