Let's Dance! With Videos!

I like including videos in these articles, I think. It is easy to show pictures of Mimi and Chahloula caught in the act, but showing videos is  another story! I will just have to have faith that seeing me 'in action' won't lessen your opinion of me.

Okay, moment of insecurity over! Let's dance!

Entertainers in Tunisia often include songs with motions in their shows. I looked back at my pictures to see if I could pinpoint when I started incorporating dancing into my shows. I know we didn't dance in 2011 at the refugee camps; we didn't have music or speakers. (Oh, except for the time there was music, with young men at the controls of the sound board. Read about it here: http://us3.campaign-archive1.com/?u=d538d13e9cbc0379a6ae27fac&id=ead2410237&e=d4727bd7a7 )

I was surprised to see Mimi doing the Chicken Dance on board the pirate ship in June, 2012.  Le Canard is the French version of the song.

I'm pretty sure the dancing was before I was seasick!

The kids like to dance! They are more familiar with that than watching skits being performed. I added dancing to the events because it is something familiar, and because everyone enjoys music and dancing so much. I am not a typical Tunisian clown so I wanted to add something they are accustomed to.

Usually, I am clowning, and dancing, in a small room. Occasionally we are outside and have plenty of room to dance.

I currently have four songs, and I divide them into two groups so the audience is up dancing twice during the show. We do simple songs like the Chicken Dance and the Rum Sum Sum. I recently found a nice version of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. It is fun because it gets faster every time we go through it.

Wait, let me add another video here...

I also found a nice version of the Hokey Pokey that I might add. Someday I will get a good video of us dancing to 'Jean Petit qui danse'. It is a French song that teaches body parts; very fun and repetitive. I don't know how many times I watched it before I learned the French words! Jean Petit is on YouTube if you want to check it out.

Please pray for clowning opportunities for me this summer! I am in the mood to DANCE!
