Using Texture to Enhance Ninja Masks

2016-03-17CA-NinjaTurtleStepFinalA-W

Ninja masks are one of the most popular choices for children. This basic design is used by many painters, and can be enhanced with stencil textures.

Materials

Paradise lime green face paint
TAG green face paint
Paradise dark blue face paint
Paradise light blue face paint
TAG royal blue face paint
Diamond FX white
Diamond FX black
Sponge
BAM stencil – Mini Dots BAM2035
BAM stencil – Reptile BAM1004
Liner brush
#2 round brush
1/2-inch flat brush

Tutorial

Sponge Paradise lime green over the top and bottom of where the ninja mask will be. Use the 1/2-inch flat brush or a filbert to paint the mask in the ninja color of your choice. For this mask, I used Paradise dark blue combined with TAG royal blue.

Use the BAM stencil Reptile BAM1004 and TAG green on a sponge to add a reptile texture above and below the mask. Load your sponge with Paradise light blue and use the BAM2035 stencil to place light blue mini dots on the sides of the mask.

Load your liner/rigger or #2 round brush to outline the mask and the upper portion of the design.

Use the #2 round brush and Diamond FX white to add highlights on the design. Load your sponge with black and use the Mini Dots stencil to add some extra dot texture just below the outer edges of the mask.
